Who is Telemakus?

Te-lem-a-kus
Pronunciation: (tu-lem'u-kus),
N. Class. Myth.

Telemakus was the son of Odysseus [Ulysses] and Penelope. Mentor was Odysseus' wise and trusted counselor as well as tutor to Telemakus. When Odysseus left for the Trojan War, he asked Mentor to look after his son and Telemakus grew up listening to stories about his famous and heroic father. When Telemakus came of age, he set out on his own odyssey to find his father. With a ship and a crew of 20, Telemakus traveled to Sparta and Pylos, searching for news of his father.

What's the Connection?

Telemakus undertook a mythic search to find his father. Similarly, the Telemakus System is an undertaking to develop aids for searching, knowledge discovery, and mapping domain knowledge. "Telemakus" is an alternative spelling from the original Greek Telemachus.
